Before & After: Pioneertown Ranch
Mine is a tale of two Californias. A beach girl who fell hard for the Mojave Desert, mesmerized by the juxtaposition. The year was 2016. That first night was so quiet, I heard the echo of someone’s faraway footsteps in the dirt. I didn’t know then how the stillness would ground me. When I saw this property for the first time, I instinctively knew what it could become. As an interior designer. As a woman. It’s always about transformation—our spiritual Befores & Afters. Here, Archive West is the safe creative place where we uncover the back stories and get to the roots.
What Lies Beneath
The front porch and stone fireplace cinched it. I knew the moment I stepped onto those creaky wood floorboards that this was home. And so I maintained these original attributes, making them a centerpiece of Pioneertown Ranch.
All Together Now
I mix eras and provenance to maintain the historic balance of the house. In the living room, there's Noguchi lighting with Brazilian chairs, antiques from Austin, and this '70s coffee table was made by my dear friend's grandfather. The rug is vintage by Stark.
Counter Intelligence
The views from the kitchen counter remain central to this room. You can make coffee looking at the Sawtooth Mountains under a pink sky. We opened up the ceiling and added a few more windows. It's the kind of kitchen that naturally draws people to hang around the table.
“When we pulled back the curtain in this bedroom, a key feature came out of the shadows. These huge windows are dreamy.”
“The bathrooms are fresh, modern and bathed in natural light.”
